KIKS TYO @ MOMOTARO

Hi Friends,

this is going to be a quick post since i am at work and I will edit the post later today. I just want to share with you the first pics of the Kiks Tyo@Momotaro collabo.
My name is Tim, and i live in the 3 country region Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. I am the only German participant I guess. I know Taavi for over one year now. More on that in another post.

This mornig I picked up the jeans at the customs (this is a story in itself) where I paid some extra fees.
Inverse, Customs: I knew from Taavi that the jeans was delivered directly from Japan to my door. I told him to tell KIKS TYO to label the package the right way to avoid taxes and custom fees. Said and done. The package was delivered as a ‘gift’, denim pants as article, with a value of $10. Mhhh, does that make customs suspicious. Hahahaha yes, it does. The package took 3 days from Japan to Germany (very fast). Last friday I got a letter from Aachen customs. I can pick up the package at their office from today on, but I need to show the invoice. On the weekend I had a lot of interaction with Taavi (thx man) in how to deal with the situation. Back and forth, I decided to be honest with customs (is there for a reason) and show the original invoice (most of you call me stupid by now, but I stay honest). Bottom line, very very close to a 3 digit amount. Damn, it was that expensive since denim from Asian countries is taxed pretty high, to protect the EU market…
After I left the customs I parked on a big parking lot opposite the customs to try on the jeans and take some pics…

I am wearing the jeans already. The fit (XL) is a little wide but will shrink after soaking. The jeans is soft but at the same time kinda stiff (although one wash) and has a real vintage touch to it.
This is my 3rd Momotaro and the one the fits the smothest from the beginning on. Those of you still expecting the jeans, you will not be disappointed.
Although the jeans was pretty expensive I do NOT regret it at all.

So far i am out.

cheers
Tim

Congrats Tim! Quite a story behind the jeans but glad to see the jeans reached you already. Even better that the jeans fit and feel good. The look is not half bad either might I say. Can’t wait to see fit pics and of course to get my jeans as well. Damn… :D

Hey Taavi, thx. Will add some fit pics soon. And there is still a little story to tell, right. You will like the fit for sure. I’ll keep my fingers crossed that yours is delivered very soon.

  3. Hey Tim, glad to hear you… what a Valentine’s gift I’ say! Am very curious by the fit,as the jeans on tour initial pix looks very nice. Also interesting to hear about your ‘customs’ experience, because it sounds familiar to me (Belgian customs).. hihi.
Succes & enjoy wearing them :-)

Seriously, I think the entire story would be a long, long post on its own. But having seen the fit, I am even more anxious to get the jeans.

  5. Tim says:

@Rob and Taavi, I will try to keep the story short. thx for your nice coments. as said, the fit really rocks

I really love KIKS’ choice for the pocket lining. Sturdy fabric that won’t break in wear and tear. As much as I love the Copper Label jeans, the pocket lining (even with its natural indigo dye) does not equal fabric used with Vintage and Going to Battle Labels. I actually raised up the issue of Copper Label’s pocket lining with Momotaro Jeans more than once. The good news, the stitching will be different (enforced) in the newly produced models. The “bad” news, the fabric remains the same. I will nonetheless keep striving for stronger pocket linings (for those who like to keep stuff in their pockets). It ain’t over until it’s over as Rocky said. You know the scene, where Mason “the Line” Dixon asks, what’s that from the ’80s? And Rocky replies, from the ’70s actually. Or something… Funny scene though.

my god , the jeans look so nice with all the detail . actually we can see it by just the picture that the pocket lining was strong to endure this project . the redtab was also a nice detail .cant wait to see the fit pic tim

Seen the fit pics and at least the jeans look good on Tim. I hope it’s the same case with others who are rocking this particular design. Fingers crossed with my XXXL jeans. I hope they make their way from Ipoh to Tanjung Malim, Malaysia tomorrow! And yes, based on the pictures the jeans look sturdy. I can’t wait to examine them pants myself as well. :D

  9. Tim says:

@Mario,Rob,Taavi thx for your comment. yeah, the details are nice. according fit pics: I took some yesterday evening but really did not like them, it really is a light issue and not a fat ass issue…hahahaha. I am kinda hiding s.th., just need better pix, really. pics come asap, promised…
