9th week – Singapore

This week’s update will focus on my trip to Singapore. A fun but exhausting day. Yes, it was a day trip, 12 hours exactly. Mostly business with a tight schedule but fortunately there was some time for fun as well. Food-wise a “famous” chicken rice place where we were supposed to eat was closed. Can’t remember the name of the place but it was one of those oh well moments. So we made our way to a local food court where I did get decent enough chicken rice as well. Price-quality ratio was definitely there. No pictures though. In the few minutes of “shopping time” I had at hand, I managed to find a birthday gift for my wife. She was in need of a new phone so got her one.

Since I left Singapore after living there for a year (2008) the place has been growing strong, new complexes and apartments all over the place, the streets are changing names and the place is developing. Still I did catch few nostalgic moments visiting places where I last visited few years ago. Since the schedule was rather tight, most of sight seeing I did through the windows of the taxi, but the below picture shows what I mean with the constant construction process.

The meetings went by fast as one might assume and suddenly it was already 6 pm in the evening and thanks to the peak hours, there were no taxis in sight (at least free ones). But we managed to get one and make our way back to the Changi airport to catch our flight. We got there early enough and had good few hours to enjoy some Texas Chicken and browse the goods available for purchase. I was mainly checking watches (still browsing) this particular bottle caught my attention above anything else. A 35 000 S$ (around 19 000 euros) bottle of Dom Perignon Champagne. A silver magnum bottle “dipped in white gold” featuring best of the best when it comes to champagnes. I probably should have written down the product description but in the end who cares, it’s a 35 000 S$ bottle of champagne.

While lounging around at the Changi Airport I had one picture taken of yours truly. You can never have enough fit pics of the jeans. This one’s iPhone quality but better this than nothing.

The flight back was slightly delayed which resulted in me getting home only around 2 am. Which again resulted with massive lack of sleep of which I am still suffering. Let’s just say I’m used to 7-9 hours of sleep per night and a 3 hour sleep in the middle of the week really doesn’t help.

But I’m still in relatively good health and yesterday evening we had a chance to go and visit some friends at their house. A lounging picture with me our friend and young sir Maxwell watching Dark Knight just chilling. I think it was the third or fourth time I was watching this particular Batman movie. But it was all good and Maxwell enjoyed watching Batman as well. It could have been the bean bag as well as Lil Hulk fell asleep few times while sitting there.

Due to the hectic week this one was the second iPhone edition in a row. Let’s see if next week results in a three-peat or if I manage to take few higher quality snaps as well. However next week should be interesting as I’m heading off to another trip for 3 days starting from Thursday. So stay tuned with more updates. I’m out, peace.
