It’s been a week since the launch of Northern Denim Co. and mere two weeks since I started rocking a pair of the respective brand’s Lot 3010 jeans in size 36. A little detail I did not mention in my previous post. These are indeed the first pair of size 36 jeans I have worn since 2005. Perfect for my now closer to size 36 waist and frame.
Not the best week I have had in my life though. The entire Kuisma-Chao family has been struck by a weird flu that sky-rockets your body temperature to 39 degrees, then leaves you in feverish hallucinations for few days (in addition to runny nose) and tops that off with a cough that lasts for few more days. So it’s about a week before it’s all good again.
However such minor details did not stop us from making our way to a little weekend escape. We did a last minute booking for a hotel room in a resorts about an hour and half’s drive away from our home.
Good enough the roads soon turned really small and you know it’s all good when all you see around you is jungle and cows on the roadside. Yeah!
Fast forward two hours and we reached our destination with a view to the sea. Lovely.
The resort also had a water park for the kids but with Maxwell still down with a flu, it was rather quick stop there. Maxwell did however enjoy the jacuzzi in the room. Warm water and bubbles, what could be better? Huh Maxwell?
Some people staying in the same spot were driving in style. It’s not that often that you come across Bentleys on hotel parking lot.
Before dinner we had good chance to walk around he beach. Due to the tides all the water seemed to have vanished leaving behind only sand and skyline as far as your eyes could see. Mix the views with a nice sea breeze and it’s on. Really awesome.
Even better, the location was pretty empty with next to no people walking around. Plenty of room for thought (and nice pictures).
Below a rough sneak preview of what we could expect with regards to the evolution of these jeans. Nothing much to show yet, but it’s only the beginning.
Needless to say the past few days we’ve been spoilt with seafood of all sorts. Could not find the pics of the food (yet) but I did find a picture of a somewhat interesting delicacy. A beverage which name I can’t recall right now. However it’s like home brew coconut liquor. A sour type of light alcohol brewing that folks here mix with Guinness to create this “coconut beer”. I could have sworn I have never had something like this, but my family insists I have drank this before back in 2007. Who knows, all I can say is that it’s an acquired taste, definitely not for everyone but worth a try.
That’s all for now, let’s see what sort of Wear and Tear next week brings along. For the sake of my new jeans, let’s hope it’s only wear at this point in time…
